About the Register of Deeds Office
In September 1998 the Abstract Listing Office was merged with the Register of Deeds Office. The merger reduced expenses by eliminating one full time position and combined two systems tracking land into a single state of the art system. For more information on searching our land records on the Internet see "Quick Links' above. In 2003 a record was set when we recorded our two-millionth document. This milestone is especially significant considering it took 163 years to record the first million and just 20 years to record the second million.
