About the Register of Deeds Office
In addition to Carol, the office is staffed with one deputy. A computerized index system was added in 1993, and in 1997 an imaging system was installed. To further modernize the office, a new land record system was implemented in 2016. This upgrade allowed land record research from any remote location. Data is backed-up offsite to protect the integrity of the county’s valuable land records. Electronic recording of documents was introduced in 2014. Today, electronic submission of daily recording is at an impressive 69%. As time permits, we continue working on back indexing of the older land records.
