About the Register of  Deeds Office

The staff in the Chippewa County Register of Deeds office is dedicated to providing the highest quality of service.  Our office employs two full time deputies and one part-time deputy, in addition to the Register.

Our office takes great pride in recording/e-Recording all real estate documents in a timely manner.  We offer online searching for real estate records 24 hours a day, seven days a week with two different programs available via our website, Laredo and Tapestry.  To protect against property and mortgage fraud, the Chippewa County Register of Deeds Office provides Property Fraud Alert, a notification service to alert the homeowner of possible fraud.  We are diligently working to add documents to our real estate records database and currently have documents scanned/indexed back to 1956 with all plats and CSM’s back to the 1850’s.

As of January 3, 2017 you can obtain most vital records statewide including birth, marriage, death and divorce certificates. Please see our website for dates of availability.  We have a link on our website to Official Records Online and VitalChek to order your vital record online with a credit card.  You can come in person to the office as well.  Military Discharge papers are filed for confidential safe keeping.

Genealogists are welcome from 800 a.m. to 4 p.m.  No appointments are needed.
