About the Register of Deeds Office
The Kenosha County Register of Deeds Office moved to the Kenosha County Administration building in 1994. Along with a new location, we moved from a land document process using leather-bound books with hand-written entries to a Kenosha County Land Records Management system and automation of the department. Within that first year we had a major reduction in turnaround time for access to recorded documents. Before our automated system was implemented, it took from two to four months to get documents processed. Now, to record a document, get the grantor/grantee data entered into the computer system, and all pages scanned and electronically stored takes less than two days. Our annual volume of 30,000 land documents in 1994 rose to over 60,000 land documents in 2004, but staff levels remains the same, just 6 employees and myself.
