Lafayette County - Cathy Paulson
Cathy was elected Lafayette County Register of Deeds in 2020 and took office January 2021. Prior to being Register of Deeds, Cathy worked as Chief Deputy for 15 years. She is a member of the Register of Deeds Association and serves on the Lafayette County Land Information Council.

She and her husband Robert have three daughters and six grandchildren. She is actively involved with the Relay for Life, Paulson/Riley Memorial Ride and other local organizations. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, ranger riding and attending local sporting events.

About the Register of Deeds Office
The Lafayette County Register of Deeds was one of the first offices to establish a computerized indexing and imaging system in 1994. A major system upgrade for land records is planned for this year. Access to the index and images is offered online through Laredo and Tapestry. Laredo is mainly for professional customers while occasional customers can use Tapestry to obtain copies of their documents. Many genealogists use the office to study old birth and death records from the 1870’s and marriage records that date back to 1847. Despite a steady increase in workload over the years, the staff remains at two persons.
