Milwaukee County - Israel Ramón
Israel Ramón is the Milwaukee County Register of Deeds. He was appointed by Governor Tony Evers on May 10, 2019. He was elected to a full term in November 2020. Prior to becoming Register of Deeds, he was an attorney in private practice for twenty-five years and a Supplemental Court Commissioner for five years.
He holds an Associate of Science from the College of Lake County, a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Business (magna cum laude) from Barat College of DePaul University and a Law Degree from Marquette University Law School. While in law school, he interned with the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
He was listed as a leading lawyer by Milwaukee Lifestyle Magazine in July 2014 and 2015. He is a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation, member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Register of Deeds Association (Third Vice President, Legislative Committee), Safe & Sound (Board member), PRIA - the Property Records Industry Association (Conference Committee), the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association and the LGBT Bar Association of Wisconsin. He previously served on the Boards of the ACLU of Wisconsin, Voce de la Frontera - Action, the League of United Latin American Citizens and the Council for the Spanish Speaking in Milwaukee.

In addition, the Office of the Register of Deeds records, scans and compiles an index of real estate documents, corporation papers and military discharges; records informal probate instruments; files and keeps an index of financing statements; collects the real estate transfer tax; and performs such other functions as provided, pursuant to Sections 59.51, 69.23 and other pertinent sections of the Wisconsin Statutes.

Phone calls about document examination are answered only between 8:00 and 11:30 AM CST at 414-278- 4005. Document examination questions can also be sent via fax to 414-223-1257 or e-mail. Standard mail services or in-person delivery of documents and fees are also accepted.

The fee for recording a real estate document is $30.00 regardless of the number of pages, excepting plats which are $50. All pages shall be letter or legal size, on white paper and typed or printed in black ink.
