About the Register of Deeds Office
The office records, on average, about 26,000 documents a year. Sauk County's grantor-grantee index has been computerized and documents have been stored on optical imaging since 1987. A computerized tract index was established in February 2004, and past recordings are entered into that tract index as time allows. The office is staffed by the Register of Deeds and two full-time employees.
